Based on the current realities of ageing, unhealthy ageing and the heavy burden of family caregiving in China, this paper discussed the phenomenon of younger elderly caring for their older parents and its causes, the current state of care satisfaction of older elderly towards their children as younger elderly, factors influencing it and policy interventions. The study found that in the context of China's rapid ageing, the family care model of younger elderly caring for their older parents has become popular and is expected to become more prevalent in the future with the irreversible trend of ageing. It highlights the strong inertia of the traditional family care model and suggests that the supply and precise matching of public and market care services in China has yet to be improved. The study also found that the care satisfaction status of elderlies towards their younger children was influenced by factors such as intergenerational relationships, bargaining power, family endowments and the individual characteristics of the elderly. In general, this study provides new evidence for understanding changes in care models, while also informing the improvement of care service policies in China.
