The 2020 Annual Work Summary Conference of the Innovation Base of Income Distribution and Public Finance Successfully Held

To review the past and move forward to a better 2021, the Academic Innovation and Intelligence Base, IIDPF held its "2020 Annual General Meeting" in Wuhan on 17 January 2021.

The meeting was chaired by Prof. Lu Yuanping, executive vice director of the Academic Innovation and Intelligence Base. Professor Yang Canming, President of ZUEL and Director of the Base, Professor Zhang Kezhong, Dean of the School of Public Finance and Taxation and Vice Director of the Base, Professor Sun Qunli, Vice Director of the Base, Zhang Jinke, Vice President of the Institute of Social Sciences, Professor Shi Zhilai, Director of the Policy Evaluation and Service Research Center of the Base, Professor Lu Yongbin, Vice Dean of the School of Finance and Researcher of the Base, Associate Professor Yang Guochao, Director of the Big Data Research Centre of the Base, Professor Wu Lei, Associate Professor Tian Binbin, Dr Xie Bingqing, Dr Zhou Qiang, Dr Wang Junpeng, Dr Wan Xin, Dr Zhang Fan and Dr Liu Erpeng attended the meeting.

At the start of the meeting, Professor Lu Yuanping, Executive Vice Director of the Base, started by extending a warm welcome to everyone. Professor Lu gave a comprehensive summary of the Base's work in 2020 from five aspects: research outcomes, social services, survey reports on Chinese residents' income and wealth, academic exchanges and cooperation, and publicity and cultural construction, and reported on the past year's work to the distinguished guests in attendance. He pointed out that the base had achieved considerable research results in the past year, which could not have been achieved without the joint efforts of all colleagues of the base. Afterwards, Professor Sun Qunli, Vice Director of the Base, gave a detailed presentation on the work plan of the Base for 2021. He elaborated on six aspects: research and team building, strengthening international cooperation, enhancing academic exchanges, establishing academic journals, database and think tank building, and regulation construction.

In the following session, experts and scholars shared their views on "journal establishment", "regulation and team construction", "database construction and data utilization", "development and impact of the base" and "academic atmosphere creation" and "O office environment optimization”, “development and impact of the base", "academic atmosphere" and "office environment optimization". In his speech, Vice Director of the Base, Professor Zhang Kezhong stressed that one must have a dream, and it is because of the common pursuit of academics that we are all gathered here today. He pointed out three main objectives of the Academic Innovation and Intelligence Base: We will develop the base as an interdisciplinary platform, a high-quality platform and a symbol of ZUEL. Achievement of the goals requires continuous commitment, implementation of every aspect and detail.

In his concluding remarks, Director of the Base, Professor Yang Canming, gave high recognition and affirmation to the work achievements of the past year. The work of the past year has laid a good foundation for the development of the work plan for the year 2021 and the 14th Five-Year Plan period. In his summary, Professor Yang highlighted the importance of teamwork, suggesting that the results of the past year have fully demonstrated the cohesiveness, combativeness and centripetal strength of our research team. He also emphasises the need for an inter-faculty, inter-university, inter-national, multi-faceted and highly qualified research team, as it is important to have not only experts and scholars from within the university, but also high-end talents and high-level experts from China and abroad. Prof. Yang pointed out that 2021 is the opening year of the 14th Five-Year Plan, we should promote the high-quality development of the base without relent. The relevant requirements are set out for the organisation of work in 2021. Professor Yang raised the importance of comprehensive talents and proposed some expectations for the construction of the new liberal arts: The depth of history, the thickness of culture, the height of philosophy, the breadth of the world, the span of disciplines, the concentration of national sentiment and the length of the Chinese routine. Finally, Professor Yang sent his New Year wishes to all the researchers and scholars.

Looking back at the extraordinary year of 2020, under the pandemic, the Academic Innovation and Intelligence Base of IIDPF has published a total of 42 papers in CSSCI journals and SSCI journals, obtained 12 scientific research projects, published 4 monographs and won awards for 5 scientific research achievements. This year, we have all strived to move forward, all in order to live up to our reputation and not forget our original intentions. It has been a year of gloom and sunshine, and these sunny days make us believe in a promising future. The journey is long, which is why we need to fight. In 2021, under the leadership of Professor Yang Canming and with the joint efforts of all of us, we are confident that the vision and goals of the Base will be achieved soon!
