At the 2017 China Think Tank Governance Forum, the report China Think Tank Index (CTTI) Source Think Tank Development Report 2017, released by the China Think Tank Research and Evaluation Centre of Nanjing University and the Think Tank Research and Publishing Centre of Guangming Daily, in which ZUEL was mentioned several times. ZUEL excels in the development of university think tanks and has been selected as one of the Top 50 universities in the University Think Tank Index. In particular, ZUEL's Co-Innovation Centre for Social Governance of Urban and Rural Communities in Hubei Province ranks 2nd among national university think tanks and 1st among think tanks in the field of social policy. This is another award after ZUEL achieved the 1st place in the overall ranking of 211-Project university think tanks in China in 2016.
In the report, ZUEL's five think tanks, namely the Law Rule Development and Judicial Reform Research Centre, China’s Income Distribution Research Centre, the Intellectual Property Research Centre, the Hubei Provincial Collaborative Innovation Centre for Industrial Upgrading and Regional Finance, and the Co-Innovation Centre for Social Governance of Urban and Rural Communities in Hubei Province, stand out. They are all listed in the MRPA Measurements Top 100 university think tanks with overall scores, the MRPA Measurements Top 100 university think tanks with overall resource effectiveness scores, and the MRPA Measurements Top 50 university think tanks with overall scores (2016-2017). In the field of economy and trade, the Hubei Collaborative Innovation Centre for Industrial Upgrading and Regional Finance and China’s Income Distribution Research Centre were selected as Top 30 think tanks in the MRPA assessment of think tanks in the field of economy and trade. In the field of social policy, the Co-Innovation Centre for Social Governance of Urban and Rural Communities in Hubei Province was selected as one of the Top 10 think tanks in the MRPA assessment of think tanks in the field of social policy. In the field of law and public security, the Law Rule Development and Judicial Reform Research Centre and the Intellectual Property Research Centre were selected as Top 10 think tanks in the MRPA assessment of think tanks in the field of law and public security.
The report highlights in its sixth point that "ZUEL has presented outstanding performance, the Law Rule Development and Judicial Reform Research Centre, China’s Income Distribution Research Centre, the Intellectual Property Research Centre, the Hubei Provincial Collaborative Innovation Centre for Industrial Upgrading and Regional Finance, and the Hubei Provincial Collaborative Innovation Centre for Urban and Rural Community Social Management were listed among CTTI, it is clear that ZUEL's think tank plays a big role in decision-making advice.”
The report also states that: “Relying on the development of university disciplines and professional research platforms, university think tanks have the advantage of numerous resources and contribute greatly to the output of results. Among them, the top-ranked university think tanks are basically from universities with high CTTI scores, such as Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Beijing Normal University, Nankai University, Nanjing University, Zhejiang University, etc.” “The Co-Innovation Centre for Social Governance of Urban and Rural Communities in Hubei Province is supported by the co-founding and collaboration of several units and institutions. It has built a comprehensive think tank information platform, participated in 41 national vertical projects and 21 provincial and ministerial level projects, and also won more than 40 provincial and ministerial level awards, providing quality services for decision-making and consultation.”
