On October 24, Dean Zhang Kezhong, Associate Professor Qi Yu and their party went to the Institute of Statistics and Big Data of Renmin University of China to investigate the experience of innovation base application and base operation. The entourage also included Dr. Chen Sanpan, a faculty member of the School of Finance and Taxation, and Dr. Wan Xin of IIDPF.
Professor Ai Chunrong, President of the Institute of Statistics and Big Data of Renmin University of China, extended a warm welcome to Dean Zhang Kezhong and his delegation. Firstly, Dean Zhang introduced the overview of the School of Finance and Taxation and the Income Distribution Research Center, as well as the progress and confusion of the current stage of the application. The main purpose of the trip was to learn the successful experience of applying an innovation base. Prof. Ai Chunrong started sharing his journey and experience of establishing the Institute of Statistics and Big Data since he came to work at Renmin University of China in 2015. In his opinion, international cooperation is inevitable. International schooling and international assessment system have been set up when the institute was established. Applying for an innovation base is important in planning the internationalization process of the institute. He believed that the successful application of the innovation base is inseparable from the strong support of the university. The applied projects should be based on national major urgent needs, and combine modernity and applicability. The preliminary cooperation foundation with overseas expert teams is a very important factor. During application, it is important to show your strengths and characteristics, tell about your work and the preliminary basis with foreign experts. Let the expert judges understand the foundation and development of the research base. The two sides also had an in-depth exchange on many aspects of the application process. Finally, Dean Zhang Kezhong warmly invited Professor Ai Chunrong to the School of Public Finance and Taxation.
