At the beginning of the lecture, Professor Yang first introduced the background of the topic: General Secretary Xi Jinping proposed in the report of the 19th National Congress to "accelerate the building of an innovative country", and pointed out that innovation is the first driving force to lead development and a strategic support to build a modern economic system. Afterwards, Professor Yang introduced the basic situation of "innovation" in China from the perspective of science and arts respectively, and analysed the reasons for this phenomenon. President Young then focused on the importance of three types of knowledge for innovation. The first is soft knowledge, to have "enlightenment", to understand the temporal and spatial dimensions of knowledge through thinking in order to facilitate innovation. Secondly, cross-knowledge, we need to have a wide range of knowledge in innovation, to be multidisciplinary and a cross-fertilisation of knowledge. Third, practical knowledge, to "know and do", since practice is the real source of innovation. In conclusion, President Yang summarised the content of the talk, pointing out that whether teaching students or learning on their own, it is important to focus on imparting the above three types of knowledge that are closely related to innovation. It is only when knowledge is transformed into innovation that it becomes our own. 12.jpg
