“Improving Wuhan's Urban Risk Resilience and Building a Resilient City” Working Group Went to Hangzhou for Research and Study

On 28 September, entrusted by the Wuhan Municipal Government Decision-making Advisory Committee, the "Improving Wuhan's Urban Risk Resilience and Building a Resilient City" project group, chaired by President Yang Canming, went to Hangzhou to study and investigate Hangzhou's advanced experience in urban risk management, smart city and resilient city construction and advisory decision-making. Participating in the research were Professor Lu Yuanping, Executive Vice Dean of IIDPF, Researchers Wu Lei, Tian Binbin and Xie Bingqing, as well as Deputy Director Tu Wenwen and Director Cao Lei of the Wuhan Municipal Government Decision-making Advisory Committee. 1.jpg

At the meeting, Director Shen Jinhua introduced the overall effectiveness of Hangzhou in recent years in insisting on digital empowerment for urban governance and solidly promoting the construction of a new type of smart city. Afterwards, staff from relevant departments in Hangzhou introduced the functions and experiences of their departments in dealing with urban risks and innovative urban governance. The Wuhan Joint Research Group introduced Wuhan's strategic thinking and overall objectives in urban risk response and resilient city building. The both sides further exchanged and discussed in depth the experience of institutional innovation in promoting the modernization of urban governance system and governance capacity. 2.jpg

In the afternoon of September 29, the research group visited Hangzhou Data Resources Management Bureau and Hangzhou Big Data Management Service Centre to understand and examine the system functions and operation mode of Hangzhou City Data Brain, as well as the application of data resources in the field of government management and social governance. Members of the research team had an in-depth exchange with staff of the authorities to discuss the importance of big data applications in the construction of smart and resilient cities and related experiences. 3.jpg

The research was highly valued and strongly supported by the Wuhan Municipal Government Decision-making Advisory Committee, the Hangzhou Municipal Government Advisory Committee and other departments, and the research mission has been successfully accomplished. 4.jpg
