The 2nd Xixian Forum of Income Distribution and Public Finance Successfully Held

In the afternoon of 6 November 2020, The 2nd Xixian Forum of Income Distribution and Public Finance, co-organized by the School of Public Finance and Taxation of ZUEL and Innovation Base for Income Distribution and Public Finance, was successfully held in 603 Wenquan Building. The forum was presented by Professor Luo Chuliang of Renmin University of China. Over twenty teachers and students attended the conference, including Professor Zhang Kezhong, Dean of the School of Public Finance and Taxation of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Vice President of IIDPF, Associate Professor Tian Binbin, researcher, Dr. Wan Xin and Dr. Zhang Fan. The forum was chaired by Professor Lu Yuanping, Executive Vice-President of IIDPF. w1.jpg

At the beginning of the forum, Professor Lu Yuanping introduced Professor Luo Chuliang to the audience with the title "China's Thomas Piketty". Professor Luo Chuliang has a long career in the field of income distribution, who has published published dozens of papers in top journals including Social Science in China, Economic Research Journal and Management World, and has published a number of books related to income distribution research. w2.jpg

At the forum, Professor Luo Chuliang gave a keynote speech on "Income Inequality: Concepts, Data and Some Controversies". Professor Luo gave a specific elaboration on the explanation of the concepts related to income and disposable income, the ways of obtaining income data and its advantages and disadvantages, the new data and methods of income disparity, and the development of some current controversies on income inequality. w3.jpg

Professor Luo Chuliang's excellent speech was well received by the students and faculty present. During the exchange session, students and faculty members enthusiastically asked questions. Professor Luo Chuliang actively interacted with the students and faculty in the audience, giving detailed answers to questions on income inequality and property inequality, redistribution and the role of market mechanisms on equality. The splendid forum won many rounds of applause from the students and faculty present. Prof. Luo also gave full recognition to the intellectual curiosity and academic spirit of the ZUEL students.
