On July 20, 2019, the Joint Base Forum of the Institute of Income Distribution and Public Finance of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and the Academic Seminar on Income Distribution and Public Financial System was successfully held in Nanning, Guangxi. The forum was hosted by the Institute of Income Distribution and Public Finance of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and was undertook by Guangxi University of Finance and Economics. The forum was participated by more than 100 experts, scholars, teachers and students from various universities and research institutions such as Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, Wuhan University, Sun Yat-sen University, Sichuan University, Dongbei University of Finance and Economics, Qinghai University, Guangdong University of Finance and Economics, Guangxi University of Finance and Economics and Research Institute for Fiscal Science of Guangxi Department of Finance.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Researcher Meng Qiang, Dean of the School of Finance and Public Administration of Guangxi University of Finance and Economics. Professor Pan Hui, Vice President of Guangxi University of Finance and Economics, and Professor Kang Junxin, Dean of the School of Social Sciences of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law delivered speeches respectively. In the experience exchange of sub-bases, Professor Zhang Kezhong (Dean of School of Finance and Taxation, Zhongnan University of Economics and Law), Professor Hao Chunhong (Dean of School of Economics, Inner Mongolia University of Finance and Economics), Professor Wen Xiaocai (Dean of School of Finance and Taxation, Henan University of Finance and Economics), Professor Yao Weibao (Associate Dean of School of Finance and Taxation of Guangdong University of Finance and Economics), Professor Li Fengrong (School of Finance and Economics of Qinghai University) and Professor Chang Xiangdong (School of Finance and Taxation, Lanzhou University of Finance and Economics) made speeches on behalf of their bases. They expressed the hope for the Institute of Income Distribution and Public Finance to strengthen the top-level design, and for the base members to promote exchanges and cooperation, striving for bigger achievement on the platform and greater breakthroughs in theoretical innovation. They also wished to have more and better achievements adopted and transformed in think tanks. In the academic speeches, 28 authors with selected conference papers had in-depth exchanges and heated discussions on income distribution, wealth inequality, public financial system, opportunity inequality and precision poverty alleviation.
At the closing ceremony of the meeting, Professor Yang Canming, President of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law and Director of the Institute of Income Distribution and Public Finance, and Professor Xia Fei, President of Guangxi University of Finance and Economics, made speeches respectively. President Xia Fei pointed out that the achievements of Guangxi University of Finance and Economics in recent years cannot be achieved without the support and help of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. On behalf of his university, he expressed heartfelt thanks to Zhongnan University of Economics and Law. President Yang Canming stated that the issue of the income distribution was an eternal topic, as well as a long-term problem for the international community. There was no time nor space limit on this issue. He hoped that experts and scholars at present would strengthen their research on the issue of the income distribution. He analyzed the theoretical problems of income distribution and expressed his views on income inequality and wealth inequality in China today. President Yang also put forward some suggestions such as improving the legal system and solving technical problems through big data. Finally, he hoped that the members of the domestic bases would further deepen their cooperation, and the international community would also have a common platform to strengthen international cooperation and achieve more fruitful results.
