Professor Wu Lei of the Institute of Public Finance and Taxation and IIDPF has recently been appointed by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) as a reviewer for the official report entitled The Natural Capital Gap and the SDGs: Costs and Benefits of Meeting the Targets in Twenty  Countries, which was published earlier.

The report is led and published by the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership (GGKP), co-led by the Global Green Development Initiative (GGGI), the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the World Bank (WBG).

ZUEL was the only reviewer in Asia and the only university in the world to participate. Professor Wu Lei provided valuable comments on the methodology and indicators used to assess sustainable development performance in the report, and on how to view the benefits of improving air quality and reforestation policies in developing and developed countries, which were highly valued by the United Nations Environment Programme and adopted by reference, and were formally acknowledged in the report. The reviewers were mainly from international organisations or institutions, namely the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa, the Green Growth Knowledge Partnership and the Inter-American Development Bank.
