The Peikang Chang Foundation of Development Economics has announced the winners of the 18th Peikang Chang Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation Award, which has been awarded to IIDPF researcher Dr Zou Jianwen. In accordance with the objectives of the Foundation, the Peikang Chang Outstanding PhD and Master's Thesis Award is established to encourage diligence and innovation among postgraduate students, and to reward outstanding doctoral and master's theses for theoretical breakthroughs or important innovations in economics research.
Dr. Zou Jianwen's dissertation, Structural Identification of Chinese Residents' Consumption Behaviour and its Facilitation Mechanism: An Analysis Based on a Life Cycle Model, is the first PhD thesis in China to systematically analyse the characteristics of Chinese residents' consumption behaviour and its structural heterogeneity based on a structural model. Its research has important value and significance. On the one hand, it accurately identifies the basic structural parameters of Chinese residents' consumption and provides a benchmark for parameter calibration in the construction of macroeconomic models in China, which has the characteristics of fundamental research and important theoretical value. On the other hand, it effectively assesses the potential path of China's consumption under the conditions of the release of various constraints, which has important policy implications in the context of the reality of unblocking the internal circulation.
The main content of Dr. Zou Jianwen's dissertation has been published in authoritative academic journals such as Economic Research Journal and Economic Perspectives. The awarding is an important recognition of his research ability and innovation.
