On the morning of June 15, 2022, the proposal report of a major project of the National Social Science Foundation to study and interpret the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, "Research on Promoting the Common prosperity of the People", was successfully held at the IIDPF.
The meeting was held in a hybrid online and offline approach. Prof. Gong Liutang from Peking University, Prof. Li Shi from Zhejiang University, Prof. Luo Chuliang from Renmin University of China, Prof. Yue Ximing from Renmin University of China, Prof. Zhou Yunbo from Nankai University (the above experts attended the conference online), as well as Prof. Guo Xibao from Wuhan University, Prof. Zhang Jianhua from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Prof. Li Xiaoping from Zhongnan University of Economics and Law were invited to attend the conference. Professor Zou Jinwen, Vice President of Zhongnan University of Economics and Law, and Professor Zhang Jinlin, Director of Research Department, attended the meeting. Professor Yang Canming, the chief expert of the project, Professor Zhang Kezhong, Professor Sun Qunli, Professor Lu Yuanping, Professor Tian Binbin and Professor Yang Guochao, the project team members, attended the meeting.
The meeting was chaired by Professor Zhang Kezhong, Director of the Institute of Public Finance and Taxation and Deputy Director of the IIDPF. On behalf of ZUEL, Professor Zou Jinwen expressed his sincere gratitude to the participating experts and scholars and fully affirmed the great theoretical and practical significance of the project. He pointed out that the establishment of the project was the result of the long-term accumulation of the team with Prof. Yang Canming as the chief expert in the research fields of "income distribution" and "common prosperity", and ZUEL will continue to provide strong support to the project and the research team. ZUEL will continue to support the project and the research team, and would like to invite all experts to provide valuable suggestions for the smooth start of the project and the subsequent research.
Professor Yang Canming, the chief expert of the project, explained the research focus and difficulties of the project from five perspectives: time dimension, space dimension, value dimension, tool dimension and goal dimension. On behalf of the project team, Professor Lu Yuanping made an opening presentation, elaborating on the framework design of five sub-topics, including the theoretical connotation and systematic construction of common prosperity, high-quality development and common prosperity, comprehensive human development and common prosperity, optimisation of income and wealth distribution pattern and common prosperity, and construction of evaluation index system of common prosperity.
The experts discussed the content of the opening report warmly and considered that the project topic has great academic value, application value and social significance, the research content is comprehensive and systematic, the topic is reasonable and clear, the research team has strong research ability and good research foundation, and put forward constructive suggestions for the follow-up research of the project. Professor Zhang Jinlin made a concluding speech on behalf of the ZUEL Research Department, saying that the Research Department will certainly provide good service and support for the project research with a high sense of honour and responsibility.
The major projects of the National Social Science Foundation are the highest level, most heavily funded and most authoritative projects in the field of humanities and social sciences in China. They are positioned to face the high-level macro policy-making and strategic needs of China, and focus on the study of major real-life issues that have a bearing on the overall development of the Party and the state. The major project of the National Social Science Foundation to study and interpret the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, "Research on Promoting the Common prosperity of the People", which was declared by Professor Yang Canming as the chief expert, was approved as a landmark achievement of the prosperous development of ZUEL's economic discipline, highlighting the strong strength and leading position of the research team.
