It is our mission to further comprehend the substance and essence of the great spirit of poverty eradication and to draw on the spiritual power to effectively promote rural revitalisation and the common prosperity of all people. On August 4, the research team of the National Social Science Foundation's major project "Promoting the Common Wealth of All People", led by Professor Yang Canming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University, went to the 18-dong village in Hunan Province, the birthplace of the idea of "precise poverty alleviation". Professor Sun Qunli, Deputy Director of IIDPF, Dr Liu Erpeng and some alumni representatives in Hunan accompanied the research.
On November 3, 2013, General Secretary Xi Jinping came to the 18-dong village and sat down with the villagers to discuss the way out of poverty, putting forward for the first time the important thesis of "precise poverty alleviation". Since then, the concept of "seeking truth from facts, adapting to local conditions, classifying and guiding, and precisely alleviating poverty" has blown from here to the north and south of Chinalike a spring breeze.
The research group visited the exhibition hall of the 18 Dong Village, the 18 Dong Village Miao Museum, and visited the homes of local farmers to learn in detail about the great changes that have taken place in the 18 Dong Village since the implementation of the precise poverty alleviation strategy: after nearly 10 years of hard work, the 18 Dong Village has not only successfully lifted its hat from poverty, but also developed from a poor village with closed transportation and backward education and medical and health conditions to a new village with convenient transportation, rich cultural life and diversified industries. It has formed a new path of high-quality development with red tourism as the core, integrating red education, study tourism, catering and cultural creation, agricultural experience and agricultural tourism. The precise poverty alleviation experience of the eighteenth cave village, in which the soul of precision is tightly held, cartilage is removed, blood is created, a combination of fists is made, and the characteristic road is steadily followed, provides Chinese wisdom and Chinese solutions for developing countries around the globe.
During the survey, President Yang visited some of the alumni in Hunan and learned in detail about their work in the fields of finance, finance and agricultural industry.
