Dr. Zou is an Associate Professor at IIDPF on an annual salary basis. He is a joint PhD and MSc supervisor between Sun Yat-sen University and National University of Singapore. His major research interests include local government behavior, regional economics (regional inequality) and environmental economics. He has published more than ten papers in CSSCI journals including TheJournal ofWorld Economy, Statistical Research, Journal of Finance and Economics, and Chinese Public Management, and was awarded the Outstanding Graduate of Guangdong Province in 2021. He is the chair of a dissertation project of the Peking University-Lincoln Center for 2020-2021, and participated in many projects such as the major research project of the Ministry of Education, the key project of the National Social Science Foundation, and the surface project of the Natural Science Foundation.
Abstract:
The “last mile” problem is a persistent problem in building a unified market and driving rural development. The rapid development of modern delivery services since 2009 has meant that the rural has undergone a profound infrastructure transformation. This paper analyzes the impact of the terminal service on inclusive growth in rural by unique CSP data. Through the DID method, this paper shows that terminal infrastructure significantly increase the rural residents consumption and income especially for remote, mountainous and underdeveloped villages The basic findings are supported by instrumental variables (IV) estimation and a series of robustness checks. In additional series of mechanisms were conducted. This study provides new ideas and path for the construction of a unified market.
