As a national research platform in the field of applied economics at ZUEL, IIDPF adheres to the vision of building a top academic and first-class think tank, the mission of responding to the major strategic needs of the country and helping high-quality development as well as the core values of publicizing its wealth and righting its community. Under the leadership of Director Professor Yang Canming, we have achieved a series of achievements.
With regard to scientific research achievements, the National Social Science Foundation's major project "Research on Promoting Common Wealth for All People", chaired by Professor Yang Canming, Director of IIDPF, has been successfully initiated.The research group of IIDPF has published 124 papers in reputable Chinese and international journals, including Economic Research Journal, Management Worldand Demography. Among the Chinese journals, there are 3 articles in category A and 7 articles in category A-, and among the English journals, there are 12 articles in Q1 and 2 articles in Q2. Prof. Shi Zhilai and Prof. Jingjing Zeng have successfully established major social science projects, and 16 national and provincial research projects, including 6 National Social Science Foundation projects, 4 humanities and social science projects of the Ministry of Education and 2 youth projects, 2 general social science projects in Hubei Province, and 1 postdoctoral science foundation in China; 5 monographs have been published.
In terms of discipline construction, the first phase of Chinese economics textbook, Chinese Public Finance, edited by Professor Yang Canming, entered the trial teaching stage and was successfully submitted to the Textbook Bureau of the Ministry of Education for review. In 2022, for the seventh consecutive year, IIDPF and the Institute of Public Finance and Taxation have successfully conducted a survey on the income and wealth of the Chinese population and are about to publish the detailed report Survey on the Income and Wealth of the Chinese Population (2022). IIDPF and the School of Public Finance and Taxation have also joined forces with the CEDex Centre at the University of Nottingham to conduct a series of experiments in economics.
With regard to social services, IIDPF has always insisted on linking theory with practice, based on academic research and oriented towards meeting the major needs of society. We respond to major national strategic needs and contribute to the development of high-quality think tanks. IIDPF was successfully selected as one of the top 100 university think tanks (Grade A) in the China Think Tank Index (CTTI) 2022. Professor Yang Canming's achievement A Century of Practical Exploration and Theoretical Innovation in Overcoming Rural Poverty in Chinawas selected for the CTTI 2022 Special Award for Outstanding Achievement of Think Tanks, and Income Distribution and Public Finance for Capacity Building of Think Tankswon the 2022 Outstanding Think Tank Case Award. In 2022, Professor Yang Canming's 13 advisory reports, including Policy Suggestions for Strengthening Tax Regulation on Ultra-high Income Groups to Promote Common Wealth, received important instructions from central leaders and provincial and ministerial leaders.
With regard to talent work and academic awards, the Reform and Practice of Cultivating First-class Talents under the Background of New Liberal Arts with Deep Integration of Finance and Economics, Politics and Lawchaired by Director Professor Yang Canming won the Special Prize of the Ninth Hubei Province Higher Education Teaching Achievement. Tian Binbin was selected for the National Talent Project Scheme. Lu Yuanping was selected for the Provincial Talent Project Scheme. One research-oriented lecturer was introduced. Two achievements won the 13th Hubei Provincial Social Science Excellent Achievement Award; two achievements won the Hubei Development Research Award for 2020-2021; one achievement won the 18th Wuhan Social Science Excellent Achievement Award; one achievement won the 18th Zhang Peigang Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award.
With regard to academic exchanges and cooperation, IIDPF regularly organised a series of academic events and conducted extensive academic exchanges with universities and research institutes at home and abroad. We co-organised the Third Summit on Public Finance, Taxation and Global Governance with Management World, and held a series of 29 "Xi Xian" academic events. IIDPF has provided customised teaching services in the field of experimental economics research, conducted a series of courses on "Methods and Applications of Experimental Economics" (2022), conducted online exchange sessions for field experiments and substantive academic collaborative research with the University of Nottingham, and co-hosted the CRG online academic exchange forum.
