Given the huge scale of private enterprises in China, how to cultivate private enterprises to properly fulfil their social responsibilities and activate their power is of great significance to the realisation of common prosperity. From the perspective of the third distribution, Professor Xu Juan's study compares the role of the third distribution behaviour in the process of private enterprises' fulfilment of social responsibility and promotion of common prosperity and the difference in their preferences based on a multi-equation systematic plausible uncorrelated regression. Specifically, while the fulfilment of social responsibility by private enterprises can effectively promote common prosperity through primary distribution and redistribution, private enterprises are more willing to participate in the third distribution, and thus there is a paradox in fulfilling their responsibilities. Further analysis suggests that the reason for this phenomenon is that charitable giving helps private enterprises to receive more positive media coverage and enhance their corporate reputation. The study reveals the potential problems in private enterprises' compliance practices, highlights the importance of primary distribution and redistribution, and provides a useful reference for better exploring the practical paths to promote common prosperity.

Professor Xu gave a fascinating lecture to the faculty and students, and at the same time triggered a deeper reflection on the paradox of private enterprises' compliance with their responsibilities. During the discussion session, the participating professors exchanged and discussed the relevant issues, and students also spoke enthusiastically and actively interacted with each other on the research background, empirical model and mechanism analysis. Professor Xu's sharing not only deepened the understanding of the "performance paradox" phenomenon, but also facilitated the communication and interaction of academic views between faculty members and students, broadened students' horizons and created a strong atmosphere for academic research.
