On 7 June 2023, the Seminar on the Interim Results of the Major Project of the National Social Science Foundation "Promoting the Common Prosperity of All People" to Study and Interpret the Spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee was successfully held at IIDPF.
This seminar was hosted by Prof Lu Yuanping, Executive Director of IIDPF. Eight researchers, including Dr Wan Xin and Dr Liu Erpeng, reported the relevant results. Professor Yang Canming, the chief expert of the project, and Professor Sun Qunli, the deputy director of IIDPF, attended this meeting.
At the beginning of the seminar, Dr. Gao Sihan shared the latest results entitled "Behavioural Characteristics and Income-Enhancing Effects of Family Farms Joining Cooperatives: A Network Organisation-Based Perspective". Dr Li Shanshan shared with the audience on the progress of Foxconn project. Dr Liu Erpeng shared the academic papers, course lectures and research experiences related to Common Prosperity with other members of the group. Dr Wan Qian presented a working paper entitled "The Fourth Distribution and Common Prosperity". Dr Wan Xin presented the working papers entitled "Green Development Fuels Common Prosperity: A Heterogeneous Study of Environmental Protection Taxes on Corporate Green Innovation" and "The Reality and Challenges of Household Wealth Inequality in China: An Analysis Based on WISH Data" respectively. Dr Fan Zhang reported the latest experimental results entitled The Effects of lnequality on Group Cohesion and Contribution to Public Goods. Dr Jianwen Zou discussed the paper entitled "Welfare Utility Analysis of Government Assistance in the Context of Common Prosperity" with the attending researchers. Dr Wei Zou shared a working paper entitled "Platform Economy and Consumption Equalisation in the Context of Common Prosperity".
While sharing their interim results, the eight researchers also triggered in-depth thinking about their respective research results. During the sharing and discussion session of each researcher, other researchers present had extensive exchanges around the direction of topic selection, experimental design and theoretical foundation. Professor Yang Canming believed that the team needed to conduct additional research on the indicator system and high-quality development, and pointed out that the next step needed to refine and deepen the research outline of the topic, and effectively integrate the existing results, so that the research on the topic would be more systematic, ideological, theoretical, innovative and instructive. Professor Sun Qunli further pointed out that it is necessary to pay attention to the connectivity between small selected topics and big topics, and to think deeply about the core content of the topic results.
The major projects of National Social Science Foundation are the highest level, the most funded and the most authoritative projects in the field of humanities and social sciences in China, which are oriented to the national high-level macro decision-making and strategic needs, and focus on the research of major practical issues related to the overall development of the Party and the national cause. The approval of "Promoting the Common Prosperity of All People", a major project of the National Social Science Foundation of China to study and interpret the spirit of the Sixth Plenary Session of the 19th CPC Central Committee, with Prof Yang Canming as the chief expert, is a landmark achievement of the prosperous development of the economic discipline of ZUEL, highlighting the strong strength of the research team. It highlights the strong strength and leading position of the research team. The workshop on the interim results of the project has laid a sound foundation for the subsequent research, which will be conducive to the production of more high-quality research results and the successful realisation of the Common Prosperity of All People.
