As 2023 draws to a close, 2024 is on the horizon. 2023 is an inaugural year for us to comprehensively implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of CPC, and a crucial year for IIDPF to create a high-quality research institute with focused and united efforts. All faculty members and students of IIDPF persistently uphold the value of “sharing wealth publicly and stabilizing the nation's governance,” embracing the mission and vision of “top-tier academia and first-class think tank”. We forge ahead through challenges, strive vigorously, and achieve remarkable results.
As a national-level scientific research platform in the field of applied economics at our university, IIDPF has undertaken a series of remarkably effective initiatives. Regarding research outcomes, IIDPF has published 50 papers in both Chinese and international renowned journals, including Economic Research Journal, Management World, China Economic Quarterly, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, etc. IIDPF has also successfully initiated 17 research programs at the national, provincial and ministerial levels. Notably, a program led by Professor Zhang Kezhong, Deputy Director of IIDPF, titled “Research on Regulating Income Distribution Order and Wealth Accumulation Mechanisms” is a Major Program of the National Social Science Foundation of China. In terms of social services, IIDPF has consistently focused on serving the major needs of national and local economic and social development. Achievements by Professor Yang Canming, Director of IIDPF, particularly those related to stabilizing economic growth and strengthening social welfare, have been recognized and adopted by both central and local governments. Throughout the year, IIDPF submitted over 20 governance advisory reports, which received affirmative directives from provincial and ministerial-level leaders. In terms of academic construction, Professor Yang Canming, Director of IIDPF, presided over the first batch of economics textbooks in China, Chinese Fiscal Science, which entered the final revision stage, and jointly established FERC with the School of Public Finance and Taxation, which has successfully launched a series of experimental courses in economics. In the area of academic exchanges and collaborations, Professor Lu Yuanping, Executive Director of IIDPF, represented young scientists at the 8th BRICS Young Scientist Forum and delivered a keynote speech. IIDPF hosted 33 sessions of the Xi Xian academic events series, actively engaging in academic exchanges with prestigious institutions like Peking University and Stanford University, etc. IIDPF also held online meetings on field research with Nottingham University and conducted substantial collaborative academic research.
A tree reaches thousands of feet high only when its roots are deeply embedded in fertile soil. We are acutely aware that the rapid progress and development of our institute are not only the result of the hard work and dedication of our faculty members and students but also owe immensely to the vigorous support of our colleagues at IIDPF.
